We are prepared and ready to treat patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, the condition caused by the coronavirus that first appeared in late 2019. Our clinical team has been specially trained on how to identify, isolate and treat patients with this and other contagious illnesses. However, for perspective, our bigger threat in the Rocky Mountain region is seasonal influenza – and it's not too late to get your flu vaccine. If you have questions, please contact your child's doctor or call our ParentSmart Healthline™ at 720-777-0123.
In life-threatening emergencies, find the emergency room location nearest you. For non-life-threatening medical needs when your pediatrician is unavailable, visit one of our convenient urgent care locations.
Our annual non-profit 2-day pediatric EMS Conference is the largest in the region, and sells out quickly. The conference is held every January. Visit our Children's Colorado EMS Education Facebook page for schedule and link to registration.
Emergency and Trauma Outreach Symposiums (ETOS)
We went to the four quadrants of Colorado and provided top-notch education to EMS providers, physicians and nurses. These symposiums include lectures by our experts, plus hands-on skills training with our simulation manikins and optional Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification. Possible locations for future symposiums include: Gunnison/Montrose, Steamboat Springs and Montana.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification or Recertification
At specific EMS Outreach and Education events, such as ETOS and our annual conference, we offer PALS certification through the HeartCode® PALS course.
Children's Hospital Colorado recognizes the remarkable contributions of EMS in saving children's lives. We are a proud Diamond level sustaining member of the Emergency Medical Services Association of Colorado. Our hospital sponsors an annual pediatric-specific EMSAC award. See www.emsac.org for more information. Congratulations to Summit County Ambulance Service, recipients of the 2012 Children's Hospital Colorado Award for their commitment to pediatric emergency care!
